Abortion
Tic, Tic, Tic, by the time you get through reading this another life will have been extinguished by abortion. Another heart will stop beating.
In this well publicized picture we can see a little hand of a baby grasping on to a finger of a surgeon. This is a 21 week old still in the mother’s womb and by law can be aborted. What a tragedy!
In 1965 all 50 states had banned abortion with a few exceptions: To save the life of the mother, rape or incest or deformity of a fetus. In 1973 the Supreme Court ruled that abortion would now be available in all 50 states. So in 8 short years the United States went from abortion being a rarity to and average of 1.3 Million per year since 1980
In 1995 according to the CDC the number of legal abortions in the United States was 1,210,883. In that same year the number of reported live births in the United States were 3,899,589. [ii]. That means of all pregnancies recorded, 23% of them ended with abortion. This is just a sampling of one random year. That is a shocking statistic.
How did we get from having abortion on a limited basis to millions upon millions every year? Answer, the Church didn’t do its part with prayer and seeking God. The bible say in 2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and heal their land. [iii]
What did God say? If my people. God expects his people to humble themselves and pray and seek his face and turn from their wicked ways. God expects the church-his people, to hold up the cross and shine the light of his word into the darkness. God expects the church to raise the standard, and be the voice in the wilderness, crying out to the lost. The church must assume the warriors position, which is on our knees before the throne of God and ask for forgiveness and intercede for this world.
God commands the Israelites against making their children pass through the fire. [iv]Deuteronomy 18:9-12 When you enter the land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t take on the abominable ways of life of the nations there. Don’t you dare sacrifice your son or daughter in the fire. Don’t practice divination, sorcery, fortunetelling, witchery, casting spells, holding séances, or channeling with the dead. People who do these things are an abomination to God. It’s because of just such abominable practices that God, your God, is driving these nations out before you.
God said it is because of such abominable practices that he driving these nations out before them. It was for that same reason the Israelites were driven out of their land after they had possessed it.
One of the lies is that abortion doesn’t hurt anyone. There are millions of women that could tell us otherwise. I attended an event a few years ago called The Call, ant there were many testimonies from women who had abortions who told of the emotional anguish they suffered for years. Many of them testified that they became depressed and if not but the grace of God and his deliverance they would have been emotionally scarred for life.
Ultimately God is the answer for everything. The good news is that there is healing and it comes from the one who created you. If you have had an abortion God will forgive you and heal you. He is a loving God and sent his son Jesus so that you might have healing.
