Christian Terrorists
“Christians killed thousands of people during the crusades.” There is a strong disconnect when I think about that statement! When I look in to the Bible in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, where Jesus walked the earth, I never see Him killing anyone! A matter of fact when a couple of His disciples asked Jesus to call down fire from heaven on the Samaritans who were essentially the Jews enemies, Jesus said, “You don’t know what manner of Spirit you are of! For I have not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them (Luke 9:54-56).” So the disconnect comes with the term Christian and its meaning. I can’t refute that people who called themselves “Christians” went about killing thousands of innocent people including Jews and Muslims. This is a historic fact, but can we really say that these are true Christians? Atrocities throughout the centuries have been done in the name of Jesus Christ. Even the Belts of the Nazi soldiers said “God with us.’’
The Term “God with Us” in the Bible is Immanuel which is a direct name for Jesus. Does that mean that Hitler and all the Nazis who killed millions of people including over 5,000,000 innocent Jews were Christians?
I believe if you are a rational thinker you can see the disconnect that I am talking about. The issue is not with Christ, it is with hypocrites who use his name for appalling purposes. Think about all those who are stealing peoples Identity in our society and then going out and doing terrible things in the victim’s name. If that happened to you, you wouldn’t be condoning the activities that the imposter is doing in your name. The same is with Christ and true Christians. A true Christian is a follower of Christ, even a little Christ. We have his nature and Character inside of us and are learning to act that out in our daily life. We have been born in to His kingdom and we follow the Lordship of the King who is Jesus. Jesus said in John 18:36 that His kingdom is not of this world, for if it was then His followers would fight. Jesus came to bring life not to take it! Jesus says in John 10:10, “the thief came to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you might have life and life to the fullest.” As Christians or followers of Christ we are to give life, not take it away! Right after Jesus rose from the dead, the early Church had this same heart as Jesus, they did not kill people, but instead they laid their lives down to spread this good news of Christ’s salvation. They didn’t fight back accept with their love, like Jesus when he was hanging on the cross, they often said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” They would forgive and love the people who were killing them. “True Christians lay down their lives, not take lives!”
